The Lyric Lounge is a film series based on songwriters and, more specifically, their lyrics. Connections Media invites singer-songwriters to share their music and words in an intimate, stripped-down environment, as we believe that words have meaning. Town of Birth: El Paso, Texas
Occupation/Job/Life Purpose Work: Full Time musician, owner of Boone's Bourbon, co-founder of Artist Formula (artist management & Spotify placement company). To grow positively everyday as a good human being.
“We all must take time for ourselves. Everything, for me, in 2018 has become such an incredible outburst of projects & goals I've tended to forget about my personal life and I'm slowly gaining that balance. I believe this happens to a lot of creatives, you need to be careful.”
Tyler Boone’s a busy guy… the proud owner of Boone’s Bourbon, a co-founder of Artist Formula, a musician (of course), a bourbon drinker (I assume), a player of Taylor Guitars. You couldn’t miss Tyler if you tried, he’s everywhere! The music community has proudly watched Tyler flourish over the years, as a musician and entrepreneur.
In 2017, Tyler was voted Charleston City Paper’s Singer-Songwriter of the Year and in 2018 he was the runner-up Best Vocalist. Also in 2018, he released “Moving On,” featuring Finnegan Bell, which has a Boone-y blues-rock feel (Booes-rock, if you will - get it, because of the bourbon?).
“Don’t Let Me Down” discusses the struggles that accompany his chosen occupations and the stressful side effects of a healthy work ethic. Traveling from city to city (mainly Charleston to Nashville), ‘making moves’ to attain his goals, trying to stay grounded through it all, maintaining relationships... It’s a lot! But we challenge you to find someone in town that has more hustle and puts himself out there to make it happen more than Boone.
“A let down for me is when someone doesn't follow through on something that meant a huge deal for you. I know I've let people down before and I always strive to not do that, but that's life. We can't always live up to everyone's expectations 100% of the time.”
What kind of vacation do you prefer: relaxing on the beach, or adventuring?
Adventuring. I love to travel and be on the road.
Is there anything in the world that you would give up music for?
Nothing, couldn't do it.
I am a HUGE fan of Blink-182. I was in 8th grade laying on my bedroom floor listening to all their albums on my 5-disc changer boombox. I owned all their tab books, modded all my guitars with their pick-ups & watched all their youtube videos growing up. I finally got to meet them when we played at Firefly Music Festival in 2016 and totally lost my sh*t. We also had a meet & greet when they came to Charleston with my bud Wes from 98 Rock. It was the sole fact these guys were "cool" and playing guitar. It was them that drew me to playing the guitar hands down as a kid, will never forget it.
How do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
I want them to connect to it in an honest way. I used to always be concerned what people thought about everything I did personally but if 1 person connects to my music, then I did my job as a songwriter.
“Respect seems to get you more in this world than someone liking you. Someone can not like you but still respect you. You can't please everyone and I've learned to let that go recently.”
Some days you know I’m terrified
not much to eat and no girl by my side
all the other people say I’m doing alright
don’t give up now you’re almost to the light
Breathing harder than I was before
fully submerged and always needing more
running around trying to make it my way
still fighting for the next day
Days like this, they come and go
but not this, i gotta let it be known
things are changing, and i’m on my way
hitting the next city on the highway
Pass it down, I’ve always wanted this
making moves, I just can’t miss
worked all my life for a brighter day
choosing this life is the only way
Don’t let me down
take me out and I’ll make the biggest sound
oh don’t let me down
keeping my feet on solid ground
